Once your doctor analyzes the results of the Holter Monitor report, he or she will talk with you about next steps in your care. We will download the information that documents the episodes and look for abnormalities in your heart rhythm. Once the 24 hour-period is completed you will return the unit to us. You will log what you were doing at the time so your doctor will know what may trigger these events. Throughout the day, you will record any time you experience symptoms – like a change in your heart rate, fluttering, dizziness or even fainting. Internal monitoring involves intravaginal placement of monitors within the uterine cavity. The insertable cardiac monitor is a small, leadless electronic device inserted just under the skin in the left pectoral region. It will be applied to your chest during an office visit, or sent to your home for self-application. They are also used when symptoms do not happen often, and other heart monitors have not worked. Your healthcare provider will prescribe a Zio monitor. ![]() Loop recorders are used to help diagnose heart rhythm problems that do not have a clear cause. The device records patterns of your hearts rhythm, called an EKG. If you are having an irregular or rapid heartbeat, dizziness or palpitations, a test that may help your doctor determine when these episodes occur is a Holter Monitor, which is essentially a portable electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG.) It is implanted in your left chest area, just under the skin.
